A bicentenary celebrated with eyes turned to the sky
For an exceptional event, a celestial celebration is called for. For its 200th anniversary, the Institution des Chartreux has chosen to make the skies above Lyon vibrate with a unique drone show, designed to leave a lasting impression and pay tribute to two centuries of educational commitment.
A week of festivities for the Institution

A full week of festivities brought together students, parents, teachers, alumni, staff, partners, and elected officials. An atmosphere steeped in history and pride.
Exhibitions, conferences, times of reflection and festive moments punctuated this symbolic week for the entire educational community.
Three evenings of emotion, carried by light
On May 21, 22 and 23, 2025, around 10 p.m., Croix-Rousse Hill lit up.
Nearly 1,000 spectators in total over the three days, gathered around the institution, along the banks of the Saône and as far as Fourvière, looked up at the sky animated by 200 drones. A poetic and emotional show, highlighting the school's symbols, followed by a spectacular fireworks display by Pyragric. Each evening was a suspended interlude, where the sky became a canvas and collective memory a living work.
A drone show to tell 200 years of heritage
A scenography in 13 scenes, designed with the Institution des Chartreux
This ten-minute aerial display was designed in close collaboration with the Chartreux team. Thirteen light scenes retraced the school's essence, including its commitment to education, art, and culture. Each scene was carefully designed to convey the institution's DNA through a universal visual language.
Symbols and emblems, represented by Allumee drones
Among the images displayed in the Lyon skyline: a dove, a flickering candle, the Chartreux Chapel, musical instruments, and the institution's logo, celebrating its 200th anniversary. Each image carried the essence of a particular tribute, and the wow effect was immediate... judging by the spectators' reactions and applause. The poetry of the forms, the precision of the movements, and the synchronization with the music made each scene a truly collective emotion.
200 drones, 200 years, 1 vision
Very symbolically, this Hybrid 200 drones light show format allowed us to accurately orchestrate the establishment's image, thanks to custom-designed scenes and well-thought-out storytelling. A soundtrack also chosen to evoke poetry and inspiration, with music composed by Ludovico Einaudi... chills guaranteed!
This project demonstrated that tradition and innovation can coexist in the same celebration, by enhancing history through technology.

A drone show in Lyon, a very special emotion
This project wasn't just an event for us. Flying our drones at home in Lyon was a wonderful opportunity to showcase our expertise in our hometown. Part of the team was also present on the banks of the Saône to enjoy the spectacle. Sharing this moment with the people of Lyon and participating in the tribute to such an iconic institution was an honor for Allumee, but also a moment of collective pride.
